We are always being told what to do, where to go, how to behave and what to eat and drink. Particularly by jumped up little upstarts who have nothing else better to do other than prolifically trawl social media ready to throw in a witty comment or anecdote into an argument that doesn’t concern them. But that’s enough about me. Let’s get back the food. Now when was the last time you indulged in the dark side and chomped your way through a burger, kebab or pizza?? Can’t think! Well let me help you out. If it’s been a while and you have then urge then take yourself down to Embers Wood-fired Pizza Parlour in Padstow.
Located in the back streets behind the main harbour side if offers tasty, unique and incredibly delicious pizza to go and to take away. The two of us, that’s me and my other half. Took ourselves down there for a spot of lunch while the in-laws indulged in that delicious of all Cornish delicacy’s the pasty. We ordered a large bowl of pulled pork nachos oozing with BBQ sauce, sour cream, salsa, guacamole and bubbling cheese. To add to that we had a large pepperoni, tiger prawn, chilli and garlic pizza. Both came out in good time, cooked to order with fresh local ingredients. The taste was superb and was more than enough for two to share. The pizza was on a thin and crispy base and the toppings where juicy and flavoursome. The chilli wasn’t too hot, just enough to give it a kick without needing to consume a dairy to extinguish the flames of gastronomy.
The service was polite, friendly and efficient. The restaurant itself is small and quirky. For a pizza place there’s not one shred of a tacky Italian chequered tablecloth or faded sun bleached picture of Venice. Which I may add is a blessed relief. The feel is modern and contemporary. It had a certain Caribbean vibe to it with its shack like interior and reggae and SKA music being piped through the PA system. I really liked this place. It’s a great alternative to the usual pizza restaurants that are on offer. I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to eat for lunch or an evening meal. There is a smaller pasta menu on offer also and they do cater for kids. They will definitely be seeing me again.
